Gandhian Philosophy - From Charkha to Freedom
New industries and growing capitalism in Britain flooded their market with goods as machines manufactures fast. They wanted a new market and came India. To dominate on us they made us feel inferior to them in terms of : language , religion , dressing , color , culture and practices . And pretended to be it's their burder also known as white's man burden to uplift us and maintain coherence with them. Not to forget they were treating us as their market.
They imposed their language on us in courts and proceedings of government , their missionaries tried conversion , their dressing of suits was seen on high class Indians , left a impact till today that white is superior.
Just to remind:
1) India has been a warm country as it lies in tropics , wearing suit is not comfortable here , dhoti kurta works well as it has wide air inlets . But Indian mindset was hijacked by Britishers in this way that dhoti kurta was seen as inferior and suit was superior . Don't believe me ? Our Feroz Shah Mehta and Gandhi ji used to wear it as well .
2) Indian has been the country where brown complexion with slight dark tone like Lord Krishna had , has been considered beautiful. Krishan is even our most beautiful gods . You can find praising of him in many poets works like Jayadeva in his Gita Govinda and Mirabai in his beautiful songs. Yet we feel inferior today against whites .
Later , after incidents in Africa Gandhi ji philosophy takes turn and develops with time . He thought to break Britishers he need to break their indian market and simultaneously to promote Indian made clothes and make people believe it's no inferior . Their he boycotts british clothes and promotes to wear Khadi and Charkha to make own clothes . He himself wears Dhoti whole life to be the symbol of change . He was certainly a man who walked with his talk.
This is just one small aspect of Gandhian philosophy to get freedom yet very impactful . I will explain Satyagraha and non-violence in other blogs.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world" ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Powerful insight which many miss! Gandhian Philosophy is merely non-violence to them.
